In the year of 2066, biologically engineered humanoids known as ‘biots’ make up a large percentage of the workforce.
The protagonist of Synthetic Lover is one such biot and, like the rest of his colleagues, he lives to serve a single purpose – to fulfil his pre-programmed vocation. In his case, that’s to be a companion in an adult entertainment center known as Dollhouse. Biots are servants who exist as lifeless dolls until being activated upon request, their self-awareness is sealed off by design, taking with it their ability to think or feel of their own free will… That’s how the protagonist’s days go until the chance appearance of an opportunistic thief with a mysterious device in his possession…

Synthetic Lover is a Sci-Fi story about an individual who, unwillingly, finds out what it’s like to be human, to deal with hardships, overwhelming emotions, anxious thoughts, difficult situations and decisions and the imperfectness of life. It’s a journey of discovery, finding connection with others, fostering friendships, attempting to remain aware and mindful in the face of adversity and, ultimately, finding love.

Special Students, as those people were soon called, became the object of fear. Japan became ruled by violence and terror and was cut off from the rest of the world. A year after the appearance of the Demonic Hole, a Special Student with extraordinary strength and will managed to unite the Special Students throughout Japan. He formed the Student Union (S.U.) to bring order back to Japan, and Japan entered a peaceful time, but it was not meant to last. Now, the land is more split than ever between the military of the PGG, the horrifying vampires of the Nightmare Eyes, the disciplined ninjas of the NPI, the fanatical Holy Flame knights, and the violent Skull Serpents sky pirates, with no end to the hostilities in sight. However, one man appearing in the Tokyo school may just change Japan forever…​

The main factions include: The Tonitrui, the Excedente, the Praecantator, the Permuto, and the Northmanni. Each has their own unique set of abilities that came with the collision – with the exception of the Northmanni, who remain largely unchanged.

Among these races, however, existed a special group of people who managed to retain all the other races’ abilities. They were a very powerful – but small and isolated group – known as “Emulators.”

Arin Arlento was one of these people, living in a remote village with his grandfather and other members of their race; everything was peaceful until the Northmanni Empire massacred the Emulators and kidnapped his childhood friend, Aria.

The only other survivor, Arin escaped into the Northmanni’s home continent of Rakos, hiding and plotting his revenge – that is, until he found out that Aria was still alive and was being experimented on.

Loathing the world that took everything away from him, Arin begins his quest to retrieve his friend and exact retribution on those who destroyed all that he held dear.
